User Profile Service Failed the Logon

Symptoms

  • Cannot log in as domain user
  • Cannot log in as new user

Solution

  1. Log in as a local administrator
  2. Navigate to the C:\Users\Default folder. This folder is hidden so make sure you can view hidden files.
  3. Search for all .sqm files
  4. Delete all .sqm files
  5. Log out and try to log in as a domain user
