Running Windows Updates

Windows 10

  1. Go to the Start Menu and type in updates
  2. Choose Check for updates from the search list
  3. Click “Check for updates”
  4. Once updates are found, click the “View optional updates” option
    GPO to force driver updates in Win10 20H2
  5. Wait for updates to finish and restart if prompted
  6. You may need to run updates again if there were a lot of updates to run or any that were dependent on each other.

Windows 7

  1. Go to the Start Menu and type in update
  2. Choose Windows Update from the search list
  3. Click Check for Updates if it didn’t begin searching automatically
  4. Click Install Updates
  5. For some updates, you may have to agree to an EULA statement.  Please do so and continue with the updates.
  6. Restart your computer if you are prompted to do so.
